Default Appreciate Your Space

Do you appreciate your workspace? Check out the first photo and you will. Now, if all I did was scroll, then I might have been able to make this a usable space. Unfortunately, I build many things as well as do yardwork and general houshold repair...so this space was a nightmare.

The pictues following the nightmare shop are the garage that I am moving into......ahhh....relief.. Two care garge with 5 feet of back space plus a workshop area a whole 3rd larger than what I finally get to move out of. No more losing wood behind the workbench or feeling unsafe simply walking through the area.

I do have to install some electrical outlets and shoplights...any thoughts on cheap flourecents?

As I said....do you truly appreciate your work space?

Brian

My guess is that within a year, it looks like the old shop, but on a larger scale! Congrats man! Dale

I bought a 2 bulb unit from Lowes for, I think, about $20, minus the bulbs. It doesn't have a protective screen for the bulbs, though, so I have to be careful with the broom or other long implements.

Oh Lord, I hope not. My old space is unsafe and greatly in-efficient. It took me four or more times longer to do any project because I had to drag my table saw from the back shed and spend 30 more minutes organzing tools. On top of that, I had to put every last thing away before nightfall even if I was going to use it the following morning. I have a feeling I'll never see my wife and kids again once I get the new space up and running.

The new garage is loaded with peg board...that should help with efficient organization greatly. I went to Lowe's today and bought 4 packages of peg board hardware...

...Or ceiling fans... the old space also had the dual 8' bulb fixture.... Last winter, I had to replace a bulb but had my garage door inaccessable (a recurring issue with the cramped area) Tip to readers....turn off the ceiling fan BEFORE walking an 8' foot bulb through the room. I'm still finding flourecent bulb shrapnel...those things explode!

WoW .....good thing you are moving. That shop looks like it did not even have space for some air. Best wishes on your new space.

Default lights

Brian,
I found fixtures with 2 halogen bulbs , protectors, chains for hanging and a plug-in cord ( no hardwiring ) at Lowe's' for about $25 a piece . They do a very good job at lighting my shop and are easy to put up
Congrats on the new space !

If it is unheated space or gets cold I would reccomend using the small T8 flourescent bulbs and fixtures. They don't have a problem with the cold.
They are also more energy efficient. I have replaced all my basement fixtures with them. I don't remmember which bulbs I used, day light or cool.

Wow! More space wish I had some that I didn't have to share with lawn tools and cars. Good luck with yours.

Are these the ones with the electronic balasts? Great idea, as all I will have is a space heater.
