Default Finished 2 more

I finished two more carvings and started two more today. Pics are posted in my gallery. Precious Hillbilly - 26' oak and Big Butt Mary - 7' tulip poplar. Also a pic of my first attempt at a Santa (one of the two I started today). This is about as far as I got in about 30 minutes. The other carving I started roughing out is a large frog about 12 inches tall. I took a few pics and thought I'd do a 'how to' with it. Hope I remember to bring my camera to the garage when I go back out and work on it

Nice work, Randy! Some very imaginative pieces there, do you think them all up yourself? I'm looking forward to seeing the Santa done, you have a good start on him! Thanks for sharing! Callynne

Thanks

The 'G' is for Green Bay, he'll' be a Green Bay Packer Santa when finished

Pretty much, I try to 'see something' in the wood and bring it out or match a piece of wood to something I have in mind for carving.

I don't really uses patterns but usually look at a picture for reference and rough sketch what I'm going to do on the wood. Other pieces I just carve what I see and don't put a pencil to it.

Good stuff Randy. I've decided that I'm going to look at the new stuff people post and then look back on their older stuff. I can't get caught up otherwise.
