Greg, They sell it up here for $9.95 a poundAngry and then you have to pay the shipping. I just refuse to pay that kind of money for bark. I do have a friend of mine in British Columbia who will ship it to me for a whole lot less than that so all it costs me is the shipping. I think I might take a trip out west next year and load up a truck and trailer with the stuff. ColinWink |

Hello check out this web site http://home.bresnan.net/~albisso/ He sent me this email Thanks for the inquiry. I sell the bark by the pound $3 - $4 per pound depending on the pieces. I would say that a good 2 foot piece would weigh around 2.5 lbs. and would cost around $10 plus shipping. If you only got one piece, shipping would probably cost more than the bark (ships from 59106). I recommend getting a larger shipments to reduce your per piece shipping cost but I am happy to sent you any amount that you want. ALEX I hope this helps Mick |

Eight to ten dollars a pound sounds high, but then, I have a pickup load of the plains cottonwood. Have enough problems keeping it locally as the word has spread. Plains cootonwood bark out layers is harder than the northern and that may be why many do not carve in it as it does dull a knife fast. No matter how much cleaning to do to it, you can never get all the grit from it.Sad

I've been buying my bark on Ebay, in fact have another box coming my way, bought it wednesday, the Seller name is Stix74, not pushing him, just have been happy with my bark he has sent so far, have purchased three times, He boxes up 25 lbs of bark and the ships it out. Comes out of Monatana and to Buffalo my shipping was $26 plus I paid $30 for the box, total $56 which is about $2.00/lb. The bark you see in my carvings has been almost all his pieces except maybe 1-3 items. Hope that help some of you out. You can check out shipping costs ahead of time by using your zip code and his to see how much shipping would be to your home. Goodluck..Coffeeman |
