Carving Jack By Flexcut ?

Do any of you have the Carving Jack pocket knife made by Flexcut? What do you think of it and is it really worth $130.00?
I spend a lot of time in the mountains here and my favorite thing is to take some coffee and snacks and head way back in and watch for Bear and Deer while sitting sit by a stream by myself and do some carving on my walking staffs. This Carving Jack looks like it would be great for that! Hate to spend that kind of money on a retirement budget without getting openions from someone who has it. I have one, but didn't spend that...cost was 105.00 keep looking at sites you will find a cheaper one than that.....nice tool...haven't used it much, got it for when I am on the road rving....

Flexcut makes some good tools
Dave must have gotten his last year
Cheapest i have seen them this year is around $120
I do practically all my carving at home
and i have an Uncle henry pocket knife
that i use to whittle with on ocassion
If i was away from home a lot and wanted to carve i would probably get a carving jack
I have looked at them at a couple of stores near Houston and they look like a good handy tool

Mike: I'd try to find one to try first. I got one as a present, tried it a bit and gave it to one of my sons-in-law who I really don't like. If you can live with just a knife check out the Kershaw double cross (with modifications) that Rick sells. Then try the flexcut, you'll see quite a difference. Of course if you find the other tools useful.... I just found it was a hassle; open this, close that, etc. plus I didn't find most of them useful. I just carry some straight handled ramelsons in a small tool roll and the double cross. Four or five of the stright handled ramelsons make a very small bundle, about an inch and a half square and seven or eight long.

Thanks guy's, I do most of my carving in the round, relief or wood spirits with palm tools. Just the way I taught myself but I know I should just use a pocket knife or carving knives more. It just got to be a pain to carry my palm tools in the woods.
Can you recommend a good pocket knife or set of carving tools/knives that would have all I need for woodspirits including the eyes? My passion is really walking staffs with wood spirits or wall hangers.
Looking to buy and try some new tools. I have had these palm tools for years and just really got so used to them that I never tried anything else;0) Mike

I have used the tool, but do not own one. I like the tool - overall, but don't see myself spending that kind of money for it. Mostly because I have those profiles in other tools already. I will say that it is a good tool and I can use most of the blades effectively. I like the knife and gouge profiles as well as the v-tool. I did have trouble opening some of the blades and cut my finger on one of them trying to close it. Tools are a matter of personal preference - I would suggest trying it if possible before purchase - as Ed said.

My sugestion would be to do as Ed says
just get you a tool roll and a knife and take a few tools with you

Might do like some other carvers here have said and knock off those
big knobby handles and put on straight handles on those Ramelsons

I have one and I got it as a gift.
I found it handy when you are in a hurry to go some were because it is one tool that slides in your pocket. Before If I didn’t think I was going to have time to carve I would not take any thing and then wish I did. I found it less annoying to switch blades than switching blades in a palm handle. I use it when we go on vacations because when my wife packs the car there is no room for my toolbox. I find it is a little bulky but since I got it I have gotten twice as much carving done. I do most of the roughing out with it and save the details for when I get home.
Also if some one did steal it I would loose less money than if they took my toolbox.
Just my 2 cense.
