Default woodspirit carvers

My name is Colin Partridge I am a woodspirit carver from Thornton, Ontario, Canada. I have been carving woodspirits for about three years now since my retirement. I started out carving small spirits out of driftwood and today most of my carvings are 6ft to 20ft tall. I am also a bark carver and although I have never carved cottonwood bark (not available in this part of the country) I have done hundreds of bark carving in Black Locust and Black Poplar bark. Woodspirits are my passion and I would love to hear from anyone out there who has an interest in this mystical little men. I am very receptive to new ideas and believe that I can learn from even the most novice of carvers as well as the seasoned veterans. Look forward to being on this message board and will answer all emails and questions

Hi, Colin, Jack D. from the deep south, Atlanta, GA that is.
I have wanted to carve an Indian medicine man peeling back the bark of a tree and peering out at the world. He has his hands griping the bark on both sides level with his face. His face reflects his pain at what is happing to the forest he loves and the animals of the forest. Just a thought.

Welcome Colin. We are happy you have joined us. Brush off some sawdust and sit and participate in some of the mania which happens here from time to time. I have learned a lot from this group and find that there is a wealth of information here. I recently started my first walking stick caring with a spirit as the theme. please share your experience with us, it is most welcome.
Cheers
Ric

Hi Colin,

I am a stickmaker and also a fan of the woodspirits. I have only had the chance to carve bark once (in fact my first carving was a bark spirit) but had fun and would like to try it again someday.
