Hi Ho, I Like those punkins and bark carving especially the Santa. Old woman carver neat. You talked about a cane segment carving, and I would like to know what the size is you start out at. Be it 5'x5' or smaller/Bigger? I carve a lot of walking staffs for Scouter but have some shorter sticks with handle that I carve to but segments???????? By segments, I take it they have a hole in the middle. A 3/8ths or 5/8th hole. I guess I need to quit something and get busy carving. Just finished up a small rose relief for the little bride and a few Dove pins, which she is selling. HMM< wheres the money. :-[ Anyway, Thanks in advanse for the information.

You sign up with W3C and there are 8 swaps in a session...which they have set up at one per month..8 months! but I don't have that patience LOL, I have them all almost done....they are 2 in square blocks, 3 inches tall with a 5/8 hole in the center. and you can carve about anything as long as it is in good taste, I have received one and supposed to receive the second the first of next week sometime.

I just saw the cane segment on picturetrail. What a great idea! I love it! The best part of Alice in Wonderland was always the Mad Hatter's Teaparty. Don

Hi Ho, Nice work really nice job on the barkcarving I notice that you are having a problem standing him up. I have done lots of bark carvings and if you want it to be a mantle piece carving instead of a hanger just take another piece of bark and make a base it really looks nice for the finished product. Thanks for the Info. Somehow, I was thinking the blocks were bigger. Ok, One last question. Are these carved blocks glued toghter over a rod or left to rotate if one wants? I asume, it is a 5/8' rod they are put on. And, does someone carve the handles or is that left up to each person? I guess that was 2 question.

go to the following site and it will tell you everything about the cane swap.... http://carverscompanion.com/ExchangeHome.html I would not glue in the segments, but that would be up to each individual, I can see several reasons you might want to remove them...you make your own handle or top and bottom pieces and they all mount on 5/8 dowel.. |
