Yes to the Nation Woodcarvers and no to the local club ... been invited many times (hounded unmercifully??), but they meet at night and I'm an early morning person (like 3 a.m.) so their bodies and mine are in different time zones. 'Sides that, I'm just not much on organizations which always have to have somebody in charge and I don't like being a follower and hate being a leader so I'm just left out. My cousing says I shoulda' been a hermit. Wonder what a hermit looks like, maybe I could carve one.

I have belonged to the local club since it started back in 1989. It meets every Tuesday night from 7-9. It included the 3 contingent counties here in SW Missouri, plus one across the state line of Kansas.

I belong to National -- to get Chip Chats. I also belong to a couple of clubs about 100 miles away. They have seminars that I attend from time to time, so the least I can do is join their club. That way I get their newsletters and keep up on what's coming up.

Belonging to a club has been a great way to know other carvers and get new ideas, help when I need it, and give help when it's needed, too.

Work load and family life often prevent attendance, but when I get back, it's like I've never been gone.

Like you, Ed, I'm a hermit(ess). I've often thought about joining the local club here in Columbus - belonging to a carving club sounds like alot of fun. I had an absolutely great time hanging with other carvers while I was Seattle (who was that lady?), so you'd think I'd do it locally, too.

Nope...when I'm at home, I'm AT HOME, most of the time alone with my carving, my music and my dog, Molly. I guess, in general, people intimidate me, so I rarely leave my house.

LOL....yup, I'm weird...and I suspect there's proper medication for that....but I don't want it :-)
