Wayne, Juried shows are where they require you so send pictures of your carvings or some places want to see them before you are allowed into the show. Most Juried shows are only hand made items only. You then are required to have your art judged by a jury of (usually) experts and then you are given permission to attend. Now having said that I would advise that you check with others that have entered the show before. Sometimes if the show organizers are making lots of money they sometimes dont always check to see if the art is quality or mass produced in China. So word of mouth is the best advice you will get, and stay away from Craft shows. Colin |

Wayne, A good source for finding juried shows all over the country is Sunshine Artist magazine. Its a trade publication for artists and crafts people. I think a subscription is around 30$ a year and they put out a 200 best list each Sept. divided into each category of show, such as fine art, fine craft, craft ect... Its just a really good source book for anyone interested in doing shows. I think thier site is http://www.sunshineartist.com Greg M. |

wayne... most woodcarving clubs put on a show once a year, where they exhibit some of their own work for all to see. most of these are juried shows and regulations are given some slack and ribbons abound... which is good, as talent grows, and the clubs grow, these shows also get bigger and better. most of them are listed in the back pages of chip-chat mag.(every issue) try one out. anyone who want to enter some carvings can do so, and they are judged once they are displayed, then given ribbons. I don't know of any of this type of show to be pre-judged with photos.......art ![]() hey greg..... |
