Default PEG solution?

Is anyone out there who has info about peg? as far as I know it must be akin to antifreeze, it comes in a block and you dissolve it in water.
Is it safe?

Hi, I used it many years ago. I got it at a woodcarving store in Minneapolis. It was a wax with polyethylene glycol. It worked well but took a lot of time to do. It also discolored the ends of the wood. Like any chemical be careful with it. Gergie,

A lot of turners used PEG when turning Green wood. It was water soluble and it kept the green wood from checking! Penetration was good and the turners continuely submerged the project between turnings. Like all chemicals, they are dangerous if mishandled.
