The two ornaments on the left are from those I made last week. They are both finished. I made the other eight on Wednesday and they have no finish on them. The first pic is without the camera flash, the second is with the flash. The two on the far right are slotted, derived from a flat earring pattern, sorry can't remember whose pattern it is. Second from the right on the bottom is a derivative from a Scroller Ltd. pattern and the rest are Bruce Pratt patterns morphed to different shapes.

Oooooo - I loved these when I saw them in your first post, and now I'm drooling again! These are amazing! At what point do you cut the slice out of the top of the birch? And how do you apply the pattern????? Just beautiful ornaments!!!

Patte Thanks for the compliments. I slice the piece out before cutting the fret work, and then sand the "hollow" on the carrier roller of my bench top belt sander, this gives a nice smooth surface and smooth contour.(I don't have a drum sander) I use temporary spray glue to attach the patterns, with clear packing tape over top. Then using an awl, poke small indentations into the wood where the entry holes need to be drilled. This prevents the drill bit from “wondering” on the contoured surface. |

Dave, fantastic work. What size are these? Maybe a quarter or something in a future pic to show reference to size?

Another sweeeeet batch Dave, thanks for sharing your process. Looks like you have a hit on your hands. They should sell well judging by the response you are getting here. Good luck with the sales. A_OK.gif
