Default New cutting in spalted maple slab

I just finished this cutting in a slab of spalted maple. The slab was actually much larger, but really odd shaped. It narrowed in the middle so I cut it into two pieces. This is the smaller of the two and is about 11" X 13"
The other half is about 16" X 15" It's a full 3/4" thick.

I sanded it down to 320 grit and gave it a good soaking in danish oil, but I'm undecided whether or not to give it a couple coats of Deft satin lacquer. Suggestions?
I'll put a hanger on the back, but I may also make a stand for it. I't looks like it should be standing to me.

I love the features in this piece of wood and it was difficult to capture in a photo. This is without flash to avoid glare.

Pattern is by Jeff Zaffino.
