Welcome.....are you aware of the new feature here called Social Groups?
Just click Community at the top next to FAQ, and you can start a group just for the subject you are interested in, then when others join you will have your own clock "space" for discussing all about clocks.

speakshi,

If you're interested in wooden clocks go over to "Works In Progress". I'm doing a thread on assembling a Thomas wooden clock kit, and Rick just got done building a wooden clock from scratch that got me started.

Feel free to jump in and ask questions. I know I've asked quite a few of both Tim & Rick.

I've made enough clocks that my wife has said enough already, and that is on top of all the ones I've given away. Each one is a different challenge, as are all fret projects. When I choose a pattern I like thin lines. If the pattern is precise it is easier to assemble. If there is any tab assembly involved I make sure my tabs and slots are sized properly for the thickness of the wood I'm using. It saves a lot of time and frustration during assembly. If the pattern is fairly basic and easy I like to use solid wood. As the pattern gets more complicated I like to use ply, not just plywood but MDF (solid core) ply as it doesn't warp or bow as does other plywoods. These are all personal preferences, I'm sure some here will disagree. I'm open to all ideas and anything that will make me a better craftsman.

ps I looked in communities and didn't see a "clock" group there before I spouted off here.
