Decided I would have some fun on the saw last night before chat time and needed the practice also.(Still need lots of practice on flat blades). So I thought I would try Steve's word pattern maker. Its AWESOME!! Sorry for the quality of the pic, but hey the cuttings not very good either...it was a rush job for my oldest sons latest girlfriend.I goofed up the inside cuts pretty bad and only ran sand paper across the front and back a few times before spraying it with poly.Took about an hour and half from start to finish, which I thought was fun. And his g.f. was impressed too which made my son happy. Jerry

Looks nice, Jerry! I'll have to give that program a try sometime. Credit goes to Dad for helping out his son with his girlfriend! |

Steve's program is a winner for most applications. When I want a special effect or font, I use WordŽ and then draw a box on the bottom about 1/16" larger than the thickness of the wood I would use for a back/bottom plate, if I am to attach one for stability. Jerry, if you're planning on making name plates for all your son's future flames, I'd be getting in touch with Mike and ordering a bunch of blades, because high school is/was a long series of break-ups and make-ups. (If I remember clearly through this age induced haze)

Rick----- Thanks and no....I had THE talk with the lad ![]() Shawn---- It's pretty fun to do...I knocked the cutting out in about fifteen minutes or less... Jim---- The boy has a different girl friend EVERY time I turn around! I told him that he has to cut the rest from now on! (LOL) John---- I never did that as a teenager or adult (spray paint costs money- its much more fun to take street signs and decorate your home with them) ![]() A couple more hundred of these and I bet my toucan project would go alot easier....I have picked out a name for my bird, but common decency keeps me from posting it..... Heres a hint though, it's what I think it looks like! LOL Jerry

My kids used to come home with street signs. When my second daughter had her first "drinking" party she came home with the bonus sign from the mini putt. That was quite a word art sign,....darn thing was 9 feet across and she wanted to put it in her bedroom. She couldn't get it through the door so it stayed in the backyard. Diane
