Default more fretwork

(Pajaro requested to see some fretwork, so blame him!) Here are two more of my entries in the county fair from last week. The shelf is cut from 1/4th inch cherry and is a Pat Speilman design from one of his books of shelf patterns. It was 1st place in the scrollsaw shelf category.

The other fretwork piece you may recognize, it was in a past issue not long ago. I believe it was originally a Worthington intarsia piece, redesigned into a fretwork project by CB Designs. This is cut from 1/4th inch solid red oak, and I built the frame around it of walnut. This won me a 1st place in the scrollsaw picture or wall hanging category.
I will follow up this post with another couple pictures of what these were up against if I can find those photos.

Default the 2nd place pieces

the barn scene would have taken the blue over my birds at the feeder if I were the judge because it looks great, although the finish wasnt really good.I loved that piece. I dont know the designer, but it is various layers, and almost like the lath art things occasionally seen on here. The Noahs ark shelf, although looked pretty nice, did have its share of issues. I agreeed with the judge on that one!

Hi Dale,

Wow, you are really a prolific scroller. All the projects look good, but I especially like the birds and feeder.

I love the barn scene too, Dale. That's really excellent.

For somebody who claims not to paint you sure manage a good job of it.

Thanks Rob. The barn scene though wasnt done by me, but I agree, it was really beautiful. There were places on it that the judge pointed out that needed a little better job of finishing on, but otherwise it was really a work of art.

Whoops! Sorry! I just assumed everything with a ribbon was yours

Suppose I missed the whole "can't compete against yourself thing" you mentioned elsewhere.
