First off, I thought I would enter a category I havent before at the county fair. There were no rules stating as to what means must be used to cut the paper, so I did a scrollsawn picture as my entry.I will admit though, it took me a couple attempts before I got what I was after. The pattern I used originally is in the pattern vault , designed by wbstroud. On my first attempt, I worked from that pattern.About halfway through, while cutting a section on the ear, I goofed up. Nobody but I would have noticed it, but I abandoned it anyways.Since it was to be a papercutting project, I decided to redraw wbstrouds pattern in a way I felt it added stability to the cutting, and in my opinion gave the piece a more classy look overall.Additionally, it did add a bunch more holes to drill, but I think it turned out great! It is cut from some of my wifes textured light yellowish tan colored paper she uses for scrapbooking, and backed with another piece of the same paper in a darker brown shade, and framed in a cheap store boughten frame.I used a FD-TC#1 blade .Well, it was entered in the county fair among 4 others in the class. This was admittedly the smallest one (8 X 10 inches), but by far the most detailed, delicate one of them all. So, thank you wbstroud for the starting point of this project that got me a blue ribbon in its class, as well as one of 3 outstanding exhibit awards given out in the whole home furnishings dept. (about 1800 entries). And, a whopping $3 too!!!
