Hey all, so I really have never felt I had much to brag about... mostly b/c I look at all ya'll's work and am absolutely amazed at your work and mainly just seeing mine as good but not great... And also kinda feeling my age and inexperience... but thanks to Mr. Thomas Hurlebaus and my wonderful Daddy I was able to create a (if I do say so myself) beautiful wedding arbor for my sister as a wedding gift... Mr. Tom if any of you remember created a wedding Arbor for his daughter and then entered it into the 2005 project design contest... and it showed up in the Summer 2006 Issue 23 of SSWC as an honorable mention (which I thought was slightly crazy b/c it was Gorgeous not to mention crazy awesome that it was done with a scroll saw... not that I didn't also love the dragon box b/c I did! I'm just saying)... anyways I was showing my sister my magazine... (which to be completely honest she never really looks at very closely)... when all of a sudden she lit up and ripped it out of my hand and said, "I want YOU to make that for me for my wedding!" (which consequently was 4 months away)... I said no stinking way! (about fifteen times b/c she had a lot of arguments) and that seemed to be the end of it... except I am me and had to at least try... you see my one big gun was there is no way to contact the guy who made that arch so I couldn't do it... well I decided that my sister really wants this so I should at least be able to say I tried... so I did and some of you may remember my post a couple of months back... and I got the responses I expected which was enough to say I tried but it didn't work... until about a month later when Mr. Tom contacted me... I nearly fell off my chair! Anyways long story short he saw my post and sent me a message saying he would love to help in anyway he could... so my dad and I started asking questions and figuring out how he made the Arch... and believe me the guy definitely knows something about carpentry to pull it off... anyways... I found the designs I wanted for it and my dad made patterns for me... and slowly the arch took shape... I ended up using Pine wood and then staining it a Red Mahogany and then putting three layers of poly on it... and believe me when I cut the last swirly in the pattern, I was so glad I nearly cried! and all in all I am glad I did it but also vary glad its over... let me know what u think of it please... and I will explain more if u like about the design... u can also check out the in between photo's on my Web site: Esther's Scroll Art - HomeEsther

Awesome arbor! You finished that in under two months?!Amazing.OBTW you should really reconsider posting your other cuts on this site.It would get kinda boring if only the extremely talented posted their works (no offense ya'll).I like to think we add a little "flavor" to the mix ![]() Jerry C |

Hello Esther [QUOTE=silverspot17;186775 so I really have never felt I had much to brag about... mostly b/c I look at all ya'll's work and am absolutely amazed at your work and mainly just seeing mine as good but not great... And also kinda feeling my age and inexperience... but thanks to Mr. Thomas Hurlebaus and my wonderful Daddy I was able to create a (if I do say so myself) beautiful wedding arbor for my sister as a wedding gift... What is lacking? That looks like real niceworkmanship, with a wonderful purpose, a beautiful gift. Please feel welcome to continue to post any of your work. We all enjoy seeing it. Your pictures are well done and show some extra detail, and to build it in that time frame... Well done. Rose |

WOW!!! That's an extremely nice gift for your sister's wedding day. Well Done!! A curious side note ...are they going to using it as decor for their home or what plans do they have for it? Would be a shame for it not to be used.

Hi Esther, I agree with what has been said. That arbor should be posted here in the bragging section as well as your other cuttings because they are excellent also. We are our own worst critics. You do excellent work and should be proud of it. Steve

What a wonderful gift to be able to give your sister and bro in law. How many people have the chance to do it and talent to pull it off so well. Great job! Lets see more of your work. Gordon |

G'day Esther, There's not much I can say except to echo others remarks. You and Dad, did a great job on the arbour. As for you other works, all of them are deserving of a brag, whack them up and see the response, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
