First off this is beautiful. I'm sure your wife will love it. Congrats onn 44 years. Now, as I was looking at this my husband was looking over my shoulder. He made a comment that got me thinking. He seems to think this phrase is copywrited. If so can we use these sayings or do we need some kind of permission from some where? |

Great job, I'm sure your wife would love it. When I got married my dad told me that only the first 35 years are hard ![]() Catslover, you cannot copyright phrases, but you can trademark them and that only if you can demonstrate that it's a brand / identity. The song lyrics are trademarked but not for a piece he made his wife - now if he would sell 1,000 of these he might have an issue and anyway he didn't use the song lyrics just a phrase. "just do it" is a phrase, but it's also trademarked by Nike because it is a mark of their "brand". Of course, there were millions of people that uttered the phrase "just do it" before Nike decided to use it, but by using it the way they did, they were able to register the trademark as part of their brand. |
