Hehehehe, I looked at the thumbnail picture and the fullsized pattern, I thought the bench was a house. There ya go....artistic licence. I would make the bench into a house.

Artistic licence, Kevin? Bench--house--how about a ferris wheel? I couldn't figure what you were talking about.

I really appreciate the advice from everyone. Hope I'm not being too needy Here's the progress. I think it's pretty close to being ready to cut. I plan to cut it 8"x10" with 1/8" BB and attach it to a piece of really interesting poplar I picked up that has very dark purple and green color running though it.

I really like the way your pattern is evolving.
Just compare it to the first draft! Huge difference.
I can see much more depth in the picture.
I can also see how hard you have been working on it.

Next comments are just my own preferences and are hard to justify, but that's just how I am You are cutting this project for yourself not for me
I do like the solid behind the bench but I find it draws me to the center of the image. The center of the image is not as bold as the ridge of trees that runs through the middle of the picture. The mountains sweep down to connect to that same area. I would, if you were cutting this for me, like to see the band of trees flow directly across the middle of the scene a little more bold in the center of the picture.
This may not be what you are trying to achieve at all. It is just that my eye is hunting back and forth between those two areas and having a hard time settling on either one.

I like the balance you have created, top to bottom. It is visually interesting and the lines on the road define it as a road without having to put in all the texture of the pavement. The square areas among the trees show definition of buildings and civilization without overpowering the scene.

All in all a great job

It doesn't work at all for me, not at this stage. What I see looks like could be mountains, could be clouds or maybe the big Kahuna wave. Any buildings just aren't defined for my taste.

Kev,
Yep this pattern has come a long way. I really like that last version, looks like it will come out really nice.
