Default It's been a while since I've gotten a project done

Here's my latest piece. I really enjoyed making it. It's going to an auction for a high school my congregation supports. I'm still trying to finish a couple of companion pieces. There will be a few more of these before I'm done with the pattern. I won't get thrown off this forum for using a competing magazine's pattern, will I?

The first picture shows the pattern, the second shows off the more natural color and grain (couldn't get the pictures to quite work out).

Oh yeah, forgot to add:

It's about 9 1/2" wide by a little over 9 1/2" long. I finished it with Watco natural oil with a sprayed on poly. It's 1/2" thick bloodwood. What a pain to cut, was using up my blades in a hurry (I was also stack cutting a 1/2" thick mahogany piece behind it - it turned out well but the color isn't as eye catching).

Thanks! I enlarged the pattern a little - wanted something a little bigger.

Really nice! I have a piece of 3/4" bloodwood (was looking at it just today in fact) and was contemplating what kind of project to use it in. I've never used it, but it just kinda felt like it'd not be too easy to cut. And, no, I'm far from being any kind of "wood whisperer."

I doubt I would try anything very complicated with 3/4" bloodwood on a scroll saw. It's a pretty wood and usually worth the effort, but it's a chore.

Ok, you did a fine job of cutting those. 3/4" bloodwood on a scroll saw, sure if you use it for intarsia, but you'll never get a complicated fret done with it.

The pattern here is cool, I can't cut it I am allergic to hearts

That is a very nice piece, The blood wood is beautiful, I have never worked with it before, I mostly use the more common woods like red oak birch, and basswood, mainly due to priceing
