Default Fretwork shelf

I just completed my homework assignment. Our club does certain projects and this wmonths was for all of us to make a fretwork shelf.
This is not something that normally appeals to me but it was fun to cut.
The pattern was in Patrick Spielman's "Fun and Easy Scroll Saw Projects"
It was supposed to be 1/4 inch wood I made it out of 3/8 oops. I learned a valuable lesson, you CAN NOT run something that is already scrolled over a jointer. Woo Hoo that was exciting.
Fortunately I learned the lesson before I cut all the pieces.
It is all 1/4 Spanish Cedar with Liberon oil finish and a couple of coats of Deft satin laquer.
It is 9 inches tall.

Very nice, Rolf. I like the way the finish turned out.

Very nicely done Rolf. I'm glad the only thing shattered on the jointer was the wood.

Rolf, like all of your pieces, it is beautiful and looks like it was made by a swiss jeweler. One of these days I'll be able to make pieces with no little mistakes... yeah right.

Rolf

That is really beautiful. I gotta get scrolling for serious. My sewing machine went wrong, just back today and I have a few bits and pieces of things to sew up (I make jigsaws and put the pieces in little drawstring bags - dinosaur jigsaws go in bags of dinosaur fabric etc).

Sewing is not unlike scrolling, in some respects, but I am much more adept at working with wood than with fabric.

Once these are done, I have some ideas for scrolling ... watch this space.

I like the idea of having "homework", it does make you try doing different things, doesn't it?

G'day Rolf,
Like you, scrolled shelves don't do anything for me, but your work sure does. That is a great example mate.
I bet a more than few drops of sweat fell when you hit that piece of fret work on the buzzer
Glad it was only the timber and your pride that got damaged.

Great work Rolf.
Do you have a picture of the piece you ran over the jointer?

Bob
