Great plaque there. Good thing you managed to correct the problem.

G'day Kevin,
My wife is a Teacher at St. Mary's Primary School, hence the logo with the Southern Cross.

During the year a number of teachers tend to firmly plant their foot in their mouth, at either school assemblies or other public events, so this award is in recognition of these Ooooooooooops (No Offence Tom)

In Oz, if your called a "Wood Duck" it means you are a bloody idiot, but a kinder way of saying it.

2 occasions that spring to mind are :

At an assembly a teacher was informing the kids that someone had lost a Ferret "and in case anyone doesn't know what a ferret looks like, it's kinda like a budgie"

At the end of year school concert, all the parents and friends being present, a few teachers were on the stage near the mike, waiting for an item to end and as the curtain came down it brushed against one of their backsides. The remark was "glad I wore my suck-me-in-knickers" the mike was on.

So that my friends is where the "Wood Duck Award" came from

Where I come from, a ferret looks more like a mink, or a weasel, and a budgie is a parakeet!! Things really are upside down for you arent they? Dale
