Default My first serious protrait

dawoof.jpgHere's my first serious attempt at portrait cutting. It is cut out of 1/4" BB with a FD SR #3 blade. The pattern is from Rick (Scrollzilla) downloaded from AFSP. I haven't finished it yet and the coloration is from poor lighting.

I've got a niece that loves wolves! This is something that I'll have to consider myself.

Nice cutting Ed. Looks like you had a couple of "I sure hope this doesn't break".

Thanks for the good words, guys. I had fun cutting it. BB is a dream to cut.

I will never again buy the "cheap" ply from the BORG. I paid more for the 1/4 oak ply from them than I did the BB from Rockler. It's amazing the difference when you have good material to start with.

As soon as I get it mounted on a backer and frame it, I'll post the finished product.

Jerry, I think I'll stick with simpler patterns for now, but I have several of Kevin's (Jediscroller) patterns and plan to cut them once I have a bit more experience.

I really like detailed patterns, but for now I'll just admire the work of others in that regard.

I'd also like to do some intarsia, but that will wait until I build up a good selection of different woods and a good sanding system.

Now, back to making sawdust.
