I have Coyote, the only thing I don't like is, I can not get the amount of fine detail I want. But other wise not to bad. Haven't used Paint Shop Pro 9, but heard it is pretty good on detail, but is harder to learn to use. Myself I'm a little lazy, So I was probably better off getting Coyote. And make it work.

I haven't used Coyote but from what I understand it's fairly limited with regards to design. With PSP (which I use quite a bit) I can get as much or as little detail as I wish. I can work with different sections of a photo on different layers and merge them back together, I can define the edges so that they're crisp and outlined along with a zillion other things. Not sure if you can do any of this in Coyote or not.

Kevin, Coyote has Layers and merge, I really haven't gotten into that much. (like I said I'm lazy) But the whole program seems a little clunky. I work in an I/S department. And have gotten use to using good software, I might be spoiled. Attached is a pattern I made of one of my granddauthers.

Does anyone know of any other programs that we can use to make patterns?

I just visited the coyote website to check out the trial version of coyote stencil software. I didn't find a trial version and the price is now $89.90.
Did I go the the wrong place? Is there still a trial version available? If anyone has info on how to get to the trial version I would appreciate the directions. I am anxious to see how it works. Thanks for any info.

I am not sure if it is still offered as a demo in North America but I found a UK site hat has it Coyote Stencil Shop 2.01 - Reviews and free Authoring Tools downloads at ZDNet.co.uk

I would love to see Bob Wilson put a tutorial on here for everyone.
if you need a higher resolution of pattern, you can set the resolution when you do the first scan of the image.
