That would be great from someone who'd been doing portraits for a while, let alone a first attempt. My thinking with portraits is less is more...the power of suggestion. Allow the viewer to "fill in the detail".

I did not create the pattern, it is richards Jack Sparrow.gif (a different Richard) from AFSP.
