I arrived back topside yesterday after yet another fishing trip. My co-workers have been concerned about my condition, so they gave me an excellent crew. Ran (a 50 something wild-looking canyon rat) trained me and was my crew leader on my first several trips and is the primary author (along with other co-workers) of a paper on the project. Chuck, a retired fish biologist who did the initial work on chub here in the 1970's, and Krissy, who worked with fish in the canyon in the 90's, were the 2 "volunteers" in camp. Lots of stories were told of life and adventures in the canyon in the old days. For the last 7 years, I've run Coyote camp (that you can see on the map in the paper).

We caught lots of fish. I didn't count all of them on the data sheets, but it was close to 300 fish per day. We injected over 100 tags into new fish per day.

Here are some pictures of the trail which goes through dense vegetation, in deep sand, over boulders, and occasionally calf deep in smelly mud. Also pictured are the other members of my crew working fish in several locations, and a some pictures of the beautiful river with travertine dams and a tiny flower (about 3" high) growing out of a large rock.

Had to go for a DW788 as all we can get here in the quality range is a Hegner for around $1100 for the SE, which is a little more that I can afford at this time. I looked at an Excalibur 21 from the UK but the saw was GBP328 and shipping was GBP300!!!

Now I have around 7-14 days to wait for my DeWalt to arrive, it feelslike Christmas!!

It was using small pieces to make keychains that would easily sell for $1.00. So I brought his idea to my booth. I already had the hardware and I very quickly cut a Arrowhead, Iron Cross and a Bear from Walnut and Cherry scrapes.

I'm only going to ask a buck for these at my craft show this Memorial day weekend, but I'm hoping that as they are looking at my scrap wood they might see something they really like! Fingers are X'd!

Good Morning,

A friend who owns a small farm asked me to cut a gift for his young daughters birthday, she is raising her first pig for 4H. When we were at the Saratoga show, I think, my wife seems to remember seeing a scrolled piece that was a sow with three or four little piglets feeding off of the sow. She said as she recalls, it was very simple with hardly any detail, but it would be a perfect gift for a 7 year old. It was a side view of the sow with the piglets being the puzzle part, what I mean by this is, they can be removed or placed on different planes so they stand out from each other. Oh... she also thinks it may have been in the area where the Hurley club was demonstrating scrolling. If anyone knows where this pattern may be available, I would appreciate it. Oh again... it is a standup puzzle. Thanks for your help.

BE WELL

Using Henriettes pattern I then created the Intarsia. 30 in wide x 19 in high. 14 different species of wood and 166 pieces. Some of the pieces were enhanced with transparent acrylic paint. So not a pure Intarsia, but hey who's counting. Jim in Bend

We didn't have time to get a newsletter out to our mailing list yet, but we have updated our site with a bunch of new patterns.

The first pic is a lynx plaque which is part of our new(ish) self-framing leaf bordered series.

Next we have a new Bible passage plaque: Mark 5:36 (Pattern comes with both versions of the plaque)

And the last three plaques are some cute word art plaques do decorate your walls. They might also so well at craft shows since this type of thing seems to be popular nowadays. These are available individually or in a set of 3.

I hope you see something you like :)
