These carvers are pros and the quality of their work is not just their carving techniques but the ability to create unique expressions in wood. I admire their creativity. With a great deal of effort I may be able to carve a reasonable facsimili of their work but that is a far cry from having the creativity to create it in the first instance.

The only thing I ever make that has any resemblence to what Kaisersatt makes is the chips on the floor, and I'm not sure about that.

Ed, The reason Marv's carvings sell so high (besides the obvious quality) is; he doesn't sell his carvings. He has nearly every carving he has ever done. Marv does donate to charity and local (Faribault) government; and on rare occasions he will trade a carving. Rick |

Hey Plain Ol Ed I took a short course with Marv and even his chips on the floor looked better than mine did. Oh well guess I have something to aim for. oldbearx2

...saw the carving the other day...they all did a wonderful jobSmile !! ...I am working the project from Marv's book and so far so good, I am doing two busts at the same time so maybe some of his techniques will rub off on me (I can only hope...)
