#1 | | Guest | knife carvers unite Wow; What a great response on this message board. Thanks for all the imput, I don't feel so lonely anymore. Someone e - mailed me and asked if I only used knives to carve. I use knives, gouges, v's, skew firmers, etc. On anything larger that 11' I use chisels and secure the piece to a carving arm, then finish up with knives.Spaces between legs and in a hand that is holding something I use a drill. We are having the 2nd annual
carving roundup in the Pocono Mountains the week after next. It is being held on a trailer camp site ( no charge) You can watch or teach. Sounds like fun. Big Al

| Re: knife carvers unite Better yet where are the Pocono's? Is that really a place or did you just create an imaginary place to go carve?

| Re: knife carvers unite It's funny when you're 60+ years old how an innocent post on a carving group will bring back a childhood memory. I was raised in Ohio, and in the 50's PA. was a lot further away than it is today. Many young people that got married would honeymoon in the Pocono's, about as far as a lot of them could afford to travel. After a couple of ladies got pregant while in the Pocono's, my Mother came up with the theory that the Pocono's were causing this, so her advice to me, when we got married was, 'DON'T GO TO THE POCONO'S'. Just had to share. |

#7 | | Guest | Re: knife carvers unite It's not the water, it's the altitude ( 2300') There is a honeymoon getaway in the Poconos that features a glass bathtub in the shape of a martini glass! Go figure. You're Mom was right. Big Al
