Rick, your hobos bring back a lot of nostalgic memories. You are a true artist! For a while, in the late 20's-early 30's my dad was a 'hobo', and bummed his way on the rods, all the way from northern Wisconsin to Oregon and Washigton, then hopped a tramp freighter for the far east. When I was a kid in the late 40's we (my friends and I ) used to spend hours in the summer in the 'hobo jungles', much to Mom's chagrin, listening to tall tales of the rails. Learned a lot of human nature there, and a lot of what I didn't want to do! Al |

Great site Rick and great work. It is refreshing to see that these caricatures have character and a story.

If you have that many Rick, you should set up a small museum of hobo carvings, charge a small admission (which by the way would give funds to buy more hobos so you could build onto the museum so you could charge a small admission so........?ummm :P : |

Dave, I have enough carvings for a small museum, and yes I would like to show them, I just haven't found the right venue. About a third of my collection is by the Swedish/American and Swedish/Canadian carvers and some just Swedish carvers. The majority is my own carvings that for some odd reason I boxed up and stored once I finished them. This new site allows me to sell my hobos without commission; it is ran on a monthly display fee. So you will be seeing a lot of carvings escaping from boxes. |
