thanks daveE,

I thought we were just talking about the one...

never the less..

im working on several pieces of cypress presently. ill get some new pics up soon..

one is 2 froggs, they are roughed out, but am having a heck of a time figuring what im going to make them to be setting on..

youll see in the pics. its a real bumpy shaped cypress knee. and i think i can make the lepord type frogs riding a large snail.. youll have to see it.

i got whiskery pete's bucking poney going, although the pony is smaller than he should be, it will add a humorious addition to the cowboy setting on his fanny.. the starting block/knee segment is in my7

the first 2 pics are the starting billet of wood.

thomp your problem is you're carving knees. Every knee I've seen had something inside!

The only way to carve something without really seeing it is to get a chuck of sawn basswood. Don't look directly at until you have pencil in hand and turn the radio up a little louder so it can't talk to you (sometimes even a squared-up block of wood has something inside!).

YEp the perverbal writers block..

carvers block..

one place i checked here for basswood, michiels arts and craft store $37.00 for a 12x3x6 block all neatly wrapped in celophane..

ill have to just make a block from one of these bigger cypress knees.

worked on getting frogg pics,
they are rough to see things in, due to the cheap camera but you might get to see the details

im thinking they are riding some weird looking snail..

in the wood i have roughed out 2 froggs one perched on the top, with his hands crossed over each other, kinda looking like hes riding a saddle.
the other frog is reverse looks to be touching butts.. *
im thinking a few blades of grass, and a dragon fly or butter fly, would set it off as well. like the frog was feeding.
