Hey all I just came back from a carving show in Iron Mountain MI. Got the opportunity to meet and take a short seminar with Marv Kaisersatt. What a great talent. He has a new book out called Creating Caricature Heads, excellent book takes you step by step carving a caricature head. Also has a section on designing your own caricature heads. I highly recommend it. Marv wrote and published the book himself. Don't know if it's out in any stores yet. Maybe can contact Modern Printers 12 N.W. Fifth Street Faribault, Minnesota. 55021, this name is in the inside cover. Price I believe is 24.95, my wife was lucky enough to win one, as a door prize ( for me of course). Even got it autographed. have fun, carve oldbearx2

Hey, Old Bear! How the heck do you get into classes at that IM show, or anything else, except in the door? I've been down there twice now, tried to enter some carvings and was told I 'd have to register for the next year's event. Signed up for a registration to be sent to me and never heard from them again. Can you sign up for classes right there or is there pre- registration? how do you get registered to display.....I've had no luck contacting them either in person or by email....heck I even took a shower that day...even if it wasn't fall yet! Hey AlArchie, maybe I should reciprocate (that is a word I think) anyhow I guess what I really took was a 2 hour seminar not a full blown class. Marv did teach a week long class after the show, one of the guys from our club took it so I can't wait to see what he carved. I put my name on a list when one of the guys was at my club's show last year and then got the registration in I believe Aug, sent it in right away and made the cut. Keep trying, if you get in next year look me up. You'll know it's me when you see my table. have fun, carve oldbearx2
