I really like Gary Fallin's work, too bad he doesn't have classes out here! But then they are all good! |

...I wonder how many carvings Gary actually entered into the competition! His work is outstanding. ...it was interesting to see some new names this year. Also one of the winners peruses this board (Mitchell Cartledge) he took third and fifth in miniature!! Looks good Mitchell! |

Thank you for noticing and thanks for the support also. This years event seemed to have fewer carvings overall, but the quality seems to have improved. I did win 4 ribbons this year as Rocket39 mentioned earlier. I am still more surprised than happy at this point. Gary Falin did have lots of carvings to place - He's a fine carver and deserved his recent induction into the CCA. Hi-Ho, you may get him to travel for a class - I think he is starting to try to do more of that. The photos really don't do some of the carvings justice. My personal favorites (not that it really matters) were Floyd Radigan's 'Cool Cat' in the single animal category and Paul Enoch's 'Mop 'n Joe' in Busts and Heads. I'm amazed at the variety of carvings and think the Judges do a good job of evaluating creativity as much as carving ability. I would encourage any of the carvers here to send in a piece or two for next years event. You can't ever tell....... |

I sent a couple entries a couple years ago and didn't realize they don't have different classes...that means you are competing with the masters! Not equitable and many have found that out and probably why fewer entries...if they started different classes, at least 3, novice, intermediate and master, they would probably triple their entries...imho!
