| G'day Evie,
That's a real beauty.
The finish looks great as well.
Good to see you back at your saw, bet it feels great.
BTW. As for lunches, just do what my wife does. "If your hungry, get your own, I've things to do" {OOPS, this belonged on another thread} |

Seriously though. Both the trivet and the sleigh are really really really nice!
BTW, Are you melting up there? I don't even try working till after the Sun goes down. | Kevin, I was wondering the same thing, buy the time I get all my other chores done around hear, getting up at 4.00am, buy the time I get out there, the shop is already 90+ and moveing up. it does seam to be getting cooler, but dang the days are getting shorter. I am a morning person. and so buy 5pm, I am cooking dinner, and feeding horses. and watering stuff. and then it is dark. and tired. I think I will just have to be a night person, if I wont to get any fretwork done. I think next year, I will be burning a hole in my cantainer, and putting up a swap cooler. for this is not a good thing, when I can't cut my wood. thanks for your complements, and someday, youll have to come up. and give me some pointers on your work, that would be fun,a BBy. with you and your family, and me and mine, and anyone else that cairs to come. that would be so fun. I would love it. your friend Evie |

"If your hungry, get your own, I've things to do" {OOPS, this belonged on another thread} | Gosh John , the finish looks great, coming from you. that is a real complement, for sure, if you only knew, how much bother it was. I sprayed it with varithane fast drying airasole. dang, when will I ever learn, that is not a good thing for fretwork. it seams to dry in the air. and leave tons of litte hairs all over the work. I will never do this again, deft for me from now on. John how would you finish a piece like this. I tryed dipping a fret work, but just got drippeys. more sanding. I love the shiny finish on some things. how would you do this??
and as far as lunch, I buy those little frozen dinners, hubby can just pop one in the microwave, and shazamm. done. he wont eat left overs. and how many folks does it take to make a sanwitch. and they are more nutrishas. like I can spell that. I had more fun cooking when the kids was in the house. they would eat anything ,anywhere, anytime. and lick the plates, HAHA. love my little kidlets.
thanks for all your relpys, this is where I get all my strocks. and hugs. your friend Evie |

| G'day Evie,
I think spraying it is the way I would go, and although we don't have Deft here, it seems like a good product.
As for dipping, I've never had any luck doing that either.
Those fine hairs are (You are Right) caused by the lacquer drying in the air.
Have another shot on some scrap and hold the can a bit closer and apply it a little heavier.
Tell Hubby he doesn't know what he's missing, left overs are the best |

| I know what parts I would be missing if I turned down leftovers. But then its my cooking.LOL
Thanks for the tip about drying in the air. I tried a spray lacquer last year and gave up.

| Great cutting, one of the prettiest sleighs there is, and Dirk is one of my favorite designers.I dont understand the camel hairs thing though? If you used a spray on lacquer, how did a camel hair brush get into the finish? You shouldnt need a brush at all with spray on finish.

I think Evie meant fine spider web like strands. I hope she did, because that's what I addressed. |
