| That is sooooo cool. I love it. Good job on that project. Is the coffee can surrounded by wood, or is it painted to look like wood? I'd love to know how you did this. |

| Evie, I made everything from scrap pieces of wood, The shingles were made from veener, I ripped it down to 3/4" strips, cut them into 1-1/2" pieces, Stacked them 10 to a bundle and rounded them on my disk sander, the chimney is a piece of 3/4" x 3/4"x 2"
piece of pine I cut grooves into it to make it look like bricks, painted it red and painted the grooves gray to make it look like mortar.the flu pipe is a 1/8" dowel The front panel was cut in a round shape from a piece of parque flooring and glued to the front, The entrance canopy and perch were made out of 1/4" oak. The dormer windows were 1/8" pine, the window frames are made out of wooden match sticks and the window panes are cellophane, the siding between the windows is made up of 1/8th" dowels The Lawn area is a 8 inch square piece-1/8ply, pianted green, the picket fence is also made from scrap pieces of veneer, the bench is a combination of 1/4 and 1/8th" pine, the tree trunk is a piece of 3/8" dowel and the top is fine steel wool painted green, The bird bath and small table were turned on my small hobby lathe. hope this helps....Thanks for the kind words. |

| That is a really a cute bird house. So are birds going to take up residence in it or is it just for show? I made some simple bird houses a few years ago and not one was ever used by the birds. Oh well, I guess I don't know what the birds like.
