Default Carved addition for the nursery

My oldest daughter presented me with with a beautiful new grandson last March and she has decorated the nursery with some sayings on the walls.

She asked if I could make her a sun and moon to go along with them so I asked her if she could provide me with some sketches to work from. I made up a pattern and found a nice piece of 6/4 basswood at my local sawyer that was 11" wide. I cut the basic shapes out on my scroll saw and then went to work with my carving tools. Mind you, I haven't done any carving for about 10 years so I was a little rusty but I quite enjoyed making these. The finish on them so far is just a coat of gesso since my daughter will be painting them with some acrylic gouache.

Cool, I'm carving a piece of fretwork right now and it totally freaks me out! I'm so worried about messing the piece up, want to give me a hand?
