Default Latest learning project

I was asked to do a sign for the food bank at our church. Seem's like everything I do I have to relearn something.

The board is 3/4" red oak stained ash. The letters are 1/4" maple (and whiter than the picture shows). The Christ figure is 1/2" hackberry. I used these woods because that's what I had.

I started cutting the Christ figure from 1/4 maple as well. When I got to the face it broke and the piece went into the dust collector. Then I remembered I should have used a zero clearance insert to give it more support. Always learn too late.
I had no more maple so used the thicker hackberry. Actually, the thicker figure makes the whole piece look better.

The Christ pattern is from a John Nelson book.

Earl

I hope you are not on the bad boy list in heaven earlinjax....."sending Christ's face up the dust collector" Very nicely done project......looks super great.
I too volunteer at a food bank in our town, and it is a very sad situation to have so many people in need. What is this country becoming?
