If you are having trouble finding the hardwoods, you might be looking in the wrong place. Home Depot and such have just a little of it, but man the price is crazy. You must have a cabinet shop somewhere in town or in a near by town. Ask them where they get their wood. Lots of times for scrolling since we don't need a whole plank, the cabinet shops have their "cutoffs", this is some of the best priced hardwood you'll ever find.

Ask them about it.

I love using Black Walnut. Have been using it to make several clocks from one of Spielmans books. Have a connection with a guy that owns a saw mill.

Connection with a guy that owns a saw mill !!!!!!!!!!!! Man,,,, sweeeeet.
The only connection I have with any one is a company that sell refurbished laser guns for laser printers... Not much help in the wood world. Unless,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, no I better leave that thought alone, or I might end up burning holes in my shop.
