Golf Birds - Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Message Board

In the August 2012 Creative Woodworks & Crafts ( the other guys ) they had these birds made from golf balls. The ones I made were based on them. The only scroll work were the wings, head feathers and in one case the head/beak. Painted with acrylic.

really kool just got my copy today something Iam going to build my grandson reallylikes the angry bird have to make him one thanks for sharing

Those are a riot DW, expression on the angry ones really look "mean sweeeeet".

You really did a nice job on those, I saw them in the magazine but wasn't to impressed, but seeing what you did,hmmm. Thanks for sharing will have to look into them-Jim

I did up a couple from the pattern for a friends upcoming golf tournament. I also added a piece of the wire drilled into the wings and beak and then drilled into the golfball to make it a little more unbreakable. It has been my experience gluing stuff to a gold ball breaks easy. Loved the project.

I modified the wings and the tail and put 1/8 in wide fingers on the surface and then drilled holes where they would go and then glued them on. I agree that the wings and tail feathers just glued on were a little weak.

Those are just too cute! Like Jim Day, I wasn't overly impressed, but now I will have to go and research that article again. I do see some possibilities.
