Default The Cupcake Box Video is up and running!

I'm dedicating this two-video set to Trout, for doing such a fantastic job with the cupcake boxes.

I hope these videos help clarify some of the techniques needed to make these boxes. They really are pretty quick and easy, once you get a rhythm going.

You can access them from my blog, or use these links:

Very well presented. What brand dust mask are you using? Nice job.

Glad you like the videos. I went crazy trying to upload them, since my internet connection kept getting disconnected. Once it was up, however, the rest was smooth sailing. iMovie is a really neat editing program--gotta make some more of these so I don't forget how to use it.

Mike, my dust mask is Willson Saf-T-Fit Plus N99 Dust Mask, Sealing Flange, Valve, which I bought online from Professional equipment. Comes to a little under $3 each, packed in a box of 10. It's pretty comfortable, and comes in 3 sizes. It's an interesting site to check out.

I drew the line at wearing safety glasses for the video--the dust mask and hearing protection were all I was prepared to take on and off. I need to be more conscientious about that, though. My eyes may not be great, but they're the only ones I have!

I really like your tool selection. That belt sander looks like something I need next.
The videos are great!

Thanks, Rolf. I guess I'm just a ham at heart!

That Jet belt sander has worked out really well, despite some reservations we had about all the plastic. It's in its "winter position" now, with the disc against the wall, so we can bring the car in. The table for the belt sander does not have an angle gauge, (needs a Wixey) but it can be adjusted so that even at a steep tilt, there's very little space between the table and belt, great for sanding small pieces without a serious mishap. The table for the disc is more conventional, with a gauge. The sander tilts easily to horizontal, with just a large hex nut to loosen, and the dust collection is pretty good.

We're so short of space that everything has to count. If we could, we'd get a drum sander and a sawstop, but then I'd have to give up the freezer. I'd glad I got the SandFlee (based on your use of it), which has been invaluable as a small jointer, and for using the small sanders. Saves wear and tear on the drill press.

And even if we didn't have all the stuff that we were able to fit in, it is soooooo much better than using the community shop!!!!! And coffee is just steps away!

WOW.......
10:30 this morning I was asked to cover the district mail run, I said sure but I needed to run home to get my glasses....while I was home I decide to check in here to see what was new and when I saw this post I had to check it out...
when I saw that Carole dedicated this video to me sent me to the moon!
unfortunately I had to wait until I got home to watch the video's but I sure had a big smile on my face to finish out my work day....

now that I watched the video, I screwed up! my problem is that I don't give the instructions time to set in! I just jump right in!

great video Carole.....where was all your dust, I was covered from head to toe on this project...
