Default fish bones box

I had to put my ribbon and bow boxes aside so I could start this project.
this is going to be a 50th birthday present for a co-worker of mine, he's also a fisherman...

the box is cut from 1/4 maple and mahogany and it measures 3X5X7 inches

I tried to do the fish as a inlay but I failed and I didn't have enough plained wood to do another one so I cut the fish out of 1/16 inch wood and glued it to the top and sanded it down where it barely sticks up...

hey Jim, I was so close to having a perfect inlay until I cut the eye out, I forgot to have the wood on top to fall into the eye socket and then I lost focus and cut the last piece wrong and it fell throw it's hole

I know it's just a basic box but it did turn out pretty good for what it was made for...
I was thinking about putting a base or feet on it but I think this is the wrong style of box..

I'm just glad to have this one off the list...
