Default Mini birdhouses

I finished some mini birdhouses. I used food coloring on the colored ones.

Sweeeeet cuts Linda, they are very popular. Haven't seen food colored ones yet, great idea. Love the "stuffing".

I'm wondering something. I'm going to begin cutting some more of these tomorrow. Why can't we just drill a hole through the top of the birdhouse prior to cutting them out and put string or fishing line through there instead of using the little screw eyes?

I would think a small micro bit would work well. I will give it a try first thing tomorrow and try and remember to report back.

Mike,

Some of the tops are too small for the screw eye, so I used my pin vise to drill through the top (side to side) and then strung the cord through the holes. Credit for using the pin vise goes to Fran, who suggested it to me.

Nancy,
Thank you for the response. I'll give it a try tomorrow then. Do you just use fishing line or string or rafia or jute?

I agree with you, my wife suggest to do exactly the same thing, I drill the small hole after the cutting and used fish line, looks very good.

Thanks Pete. I thought I'd drill the hole prior to cutting, the the stock is still square and easier to hold on to. I got side tracked yesterday with 2 orders so have to start cutting these today...
