This is Steve's Pattern with some minor edits. The wood is 3/4 poplar and stained a golden oak, finished with semi gloss lacquer.

When I made some of those and showed one to my granddaughter in in Germany, she HAD to have it. We were skyping and she likes to see my projects. She always asks, "is that for ME"? Sometimes it is.

Nice work on the squirrel . It would be interesting if it could be turned into a nut cracker .
