Default Bowl making in Russia

I received an interesting email this morning from a man in Russia who bought my book, and has used the instructions to create his own designs. He included a link to what appears to be a Russian blog, where he has posted photos of his bowl-making efforts. My favorite picture is the use of dumbbells to weight things down. Take a look--I think you'll enjoy it.

Google ??????????

Carole -- The impact of your skills (both bowlmaking and teaching the necessary skills through your books) is indeed widespread. Congrats on enabling others to make things of beauty.

Carole:
a very nice complament to you and your skills (well deserved too) i read the 3 pages of comments from the pepole and and was a bit surprized by the admiration they gave him
on a job well done which he deserved but i was very surprized at the lack of credit he gave to you or your book i hope was just an oversight for him IMHO anyway

Glad you've all found the video interesting. I'm also fascinated by the use of the Google translations, and how they make communication so much easier.

Erssel, I noticed that too--the complete lack of any mention of me, or the book. However, I was not the originator of the concept, and there's no copyright on ideas. So of course I appreciate being acknowledged, but consider it more important that I've been able to expand the scroll saw repertoire. I've noticed that folks here on the forum are very conscientious, for the most part, about giving credit to the designers of patterns or originators of ideas. Maybe it's different in Russia?

What? Everyone doesn't use dumbbells as weights?
