Default Collapsible Basket

I just finished the collapsible basket that Mrs.Trout wanted to give her boss for his 50th birthday which is tomorrow...

here is a piece of that Black walnut I got a couple weeks ago....

it sure made a nice looking basket....

see the worm hole, I didn't want to sand it away....

I'm still using the pattern by Carol and it can be found in the Holiday issue of SSW&C volume 2...

I made one of these baskets for Mrs.Trout's desk at work and her boss kept playing with it and was a little disappointed that he didn't get one for Christmas...
being that today was his 50th birthday, he played hooky from work so we'll have to wait until Monday to find out if he likes it....

thanks for looking and thanks Carol for giving us this great pattern...

Trout, your beautiful work makes me proud to have had a small part in it. But I do like that basket design--it's just different enough from others to stand out, and one of my favorites.

Very nice. I've been having people asking for collapsible baskets again. I'll have to make that one. And I never ever sand out worm holes or anything else in the wood. These add character. I've made baskets where the bottom had a knot with a hole through the center. First one I sold at that show. I tell people cutting wood is like opening up a Christmas present. You never know what it will look like until you cut it!
