hedgehogs galore collapsible bowl
Here is the collapsible bowl for my cousins hedgehog themed baby room. They live in England and are expecting a delivery in June, and I still have to go with Sue's idea of why they chose hedgehogs, cute as they are. A picture of all 6 project together is posted in the Works in Progress Forum.
I combined the hedgehog pattern from Patrick Spielmans book SS Puzzle Patterns for the outline, and the oval basket pattern from Multiple Use Collapsible Baskets by the Longabaugh's. I had to play with the sizes to get them to fit line up and work, and the final result is almost 12" long and 8" high but is quite stable. I posted the pattern in the works in progress section and anyone is free to use it if they want to. It is cut from 3/4" poplar, stained with Watco Medium Walnut and finished with multiple coats of spray lacquer. I used a #7 ST blade to cut the entire project and dropped the table 4 1/2 degrees to the right to cut the spiral for the basket.
I also covered the screw heads that hold the foot and basket with a dab of hot melt glue.
As usual, all criticisms and comments are greatly appreciated.

I really like that, George. I've been trying some collapsible baskets myself with not much success. Can't seem to get that angle right, either the basket doesn't extend very far or it falls right out. Seeing your basket makes me want to give it another try.
