I entered my Notre Dame Chess Set in the 5th Annual Excellence in Fine Woodworking sponsored by the Arizona Association of Fine Woodworkers. There was an incredible amount of fantastic work there. I was humbled to be able to even include my work. I took my set in last night and got a few oo's and ah's as I set it up. Then after all the pieces were in, They were judged. The best in show was a walnut rocking chair that was incredible. You could barely tell where the joints were. The seat, the back, the arms were all sculpted to how somebody's backside would fit in the chair. It was amazing. There was a table made to form an oak leaf, made out of bloodwood and it looked like a giant leaf, also beautiful. Well, to make a long story short, my set won a first place ribbon in my class. This is the very first award I've won with my work. I cannot put to words the validation for the time I spend on these things. For those of you here, I really appreciate your kind words and feedback. There are one or two of you who gave me some constructive feedback that really helped, thank you. So, now I set my sights on the San Diego show in April.
