Default Butterfly Inlay Box

Hi everyone,

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

This is the latest project I completed which is designed by Sue Mey. The project is found in CWWC on pages 10 - 13. The box is made of basswood and the inlay butterfly is walnut. The basswood is so soft, I used a sanding sealer. It worked, but turned the wood orange. The finish is clear gloss polyurethane. Comments welcome.

Hi Denny,

Your Butterfly inlay Box is very nice, the butterfly turned out really well. Made on basswood, that is a wood I have not tryed yet. Nice work

Bob

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the comment. I wanted a white, easy, inexpensive wood. Even at 2" thick, it was very easy to work. Only problem, too soft.

Very nice inlay, Denny. You might give Aspen a try for light color and easy workability. It is not as soft as Basswood. Is inexpensive, too. I use it a lot.
