Site upgrades

Posted 07-30-2009 at 10:21 AM by admin

We have been rolling out some new features in the last few days, and I wanted the community to know we are currently in the process of a complete redesign. As part of this process we have been upgrading some of the features we currently have, BobD has already mentioned some of them and we have a bunch more in the works.

I've noted that this has been causing some problems, as certain design features of our site do not jibe well with some of the features we've been adding...for instance...

As part of the upgrades we have been doing, we just added Facebook(FB) connect to our site. This means you can login to the SSW forum using an existing Facebook login. If using this feature it will allow you to cross post to the forum here as well as to your Facebook wall.

Getting Started

Posted 07-29-2009 at 10:49 AM by Jim McDonald

I'm a complete novice when it comes to blogging, but since the folks at Fox Chapel have open this avenue, I figured I just as well jump in and give it a try.

I promise to try to post frequently and try to stay somewhat on the topic of scroll sawing, but being a blog, there will be some side trips in the future.

Like most people on this forum, I am not a "production" class woodworker and use scrolling as a mental therapy and producing things as gifts...

There are quite a few changes to the site that I've noticed already. In addition to the new way to view attachments, the upgrade includes a quick reply to private messages (which I love!).

You can also include a bit more information about yourself (if you so choose) in the profile area. Friends can visit your profile and leave messages for you there—the messages will be visible to all registered users, unlike private messages which only the sender and recipient can read.

Introducing Scrollsawer.com's blog section

Posted 07-27-2009 at 11:57 PM by admin

We recently rolled out the new blog section to our website. Feel free to post to your own blog. Posting to your blog works much like posting to the existing forum as the posting is almost the exact same.

Those of you new to blogging Wikipedia describes it as:

A blog (a contraction of the term "weblog")[1] is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or
