This is a cradle I made before my oldest granddaughter was born -- 10 years ago. I designed it so it will rock in the frame or can be lifted out to rock on the floor. I cut the curves with a sabre saw, as I hadn't discovered scroll saws at the time. I believe it is made from cherry. I took the picture on a recent visit.

I guess to a child, the noise of a saw and the "danger" of the dancing blade and flying wood seems like a thrill. (Kind to think of it, that sort of appeals to me too.)

Wanting to share the joy of this hobby with my children, I printed out a few practice patterns and set out to give the youngest 3 an opportunity to dive in and cut some wood.

Today, another user asks for an opinion on a recommendation for a less than $200 saw. Another will ask tomorrow, and the next day. That is the nature of welcoming new users.
