Default My first real challenge.

Maybe not much of a challenge to most of you, but for me it was. Going to a variable speed saw sure helped and the easy blade changing when you have this many holes was also a blessing. I cut this out of BB plywood and used Olson #5 reversed blades for the whole thing. It took about 5 hours. I was so anxious to get the pattern off so I could finally see my results. I'm ready for the next one. Ain't this fun?

That's really nice. You should try the FD Spiral blades. I think you could cut you time down considerably

MinotBob, I tried them, couldn't control them and didn't like the ragged edges it leaves. They are also a pain to lock in the lower clamp that I can't really see that well. Besides, my time isn't worth that much anyway.

Dale, that is not a flamingo, that is a duck. You should know them by now...

Great work. I think you did a wonderfull job and using the flat blades gave you more crispness in detail and smoother edges than you could ever achieve with any make of spirals. The flat blades are also a great time saver as you have already found out because they cut so much faster and track on the line much better than spirals. Glad to see you have joined the majority and have masterd the spinning of the work while using flat blades for a superior finished product. .
Keep up the great work. You're hooked now.

Very nice work. Cutting with a straight blade always looks so much crisper. I try to save the spirals for my heavy veining work. Was the Olson blade a PGT?
Did you stack cut?
