Default excalibur model EX-2

I have had an excalibur EX-2 for about 30 years. This is probably one of the first Sommerville Design scroll saws manufactured.
The blade holding mechanism has always left much to be desired.
Can anyone tell me if there is an upgrade to this ancient blade holding method available?
This has been an okay saw except for this one problem.
Bob
